Adopted: Sampson, a 9 year old Male Chocolate Labrador, has found forever home.
Sampson was rescued from a local area shelter and like all of our rescues, was given a thorough examination by our veterinary staff. It was discovered that Sampson had soft tissue sarcoma. These masses originate from a variety of soft tissue and they tend to be locally invasive with low chance of metastasis. Sampson has had surgery to remove all tumor cells, and there were no signs of metastatic cancer. He should have a check up every 3 months for the next 2 years to monitor any changes, and if there is no evidence of cancer returning, he is cancer free! Aside from the lump that has been removed, Sampson is healthy and happy.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Sampson is sturdy, resilient, strong, compliant, energetic and curious. He is completely house trained including ‘taking care of business’ outside, not jumping up on counters, nor any interest in chewing on furniture, shoes, wires, power cords and socks. Minimal appetite for human food. Does like peanut butter. He sleeps through the night, will sleep with you in bed, but will also sleep at your bedside. He typically follows me around the house so I always know where he is. If you don’t see him, just yell “Come,” and his response is virtually automatic.

He will lick your hands and face when you show him the smallest kindness. Quite affectionate. He likes car rides and is well behaved. He is easy to crate. Just open the door and he goes right in. When he gets frightened, agitated or upset, petting Sampson and pulling him close will calm him down.

Sampson is around 100 pounds and needs to keep losing weight. He can get into a typical SUV through the passenger door but would have a hard time, currently, jumping into one from the back. When full of energy, or curious about something, he pulls on the leash. He is strong and low to the ground. Some obedience training would be very helpful here. He does not like cats. I do not have a pool so I do not know how he responds to water. His only activity so far has been walks on a leash.

Sampson will make a great companion for an individual or family interested in nurturing and playing with this wonderful canine who has a great heart. "
