Pending: Dakota, a 4 year old Black Male Labrador, who is looking for his forever home.
Here is a bio from his foster home:
"Meet Dakota — the best of Lab life without the crazy puppy phase! 🐾💛
Dakota came to us extremely shy and hesitant, but it didn’t take long for his personality to emerge. He is a calm, smart, affectionate and well-mannered Lab who is comfortably past the crazy puppy stage and really wants to connect with his people.
And we’ve discovered Dakota’s superpower: he reads his human’s energy and matches it.
Want to curl up and relax? Dakota is perfectly happy to settle in next to you and chill. Ready to head outside, run around the backyard and play? He’s right there with you, happily matching your energy. Heading out for a car ride? He rides so well you won’t even notice he’s in the back seat. He has a wonderful ability to enjoy the moment right alongside his person.
He knows sit, is doing great with his potty routine and crate, has good overall house manners, and no evidence of counter surfing. Once the invitation is made, he makes himself comfortable on furniture and beds, but responds well to redirection, if preferred.
On walks, Dakota starts out with some happy Lab enthusiasm, and once he gets that initial energy out, he settles in. Polite leash walking is still something he’s working on, as is remembering to be gentle when taking treats — apparently treats are VERY exciting!
What really makes Dakota special is his temperament. He’s attentive, adaptable and genuinely seems happiest when he’s connected to his people. He can be your playmate when it’s time to have fun and your calm companion when it’s time to relax."
Medical Disclosure: Dakota came to LVLR with a skin infection on his front paws and chin area. He's being treated with anti-biotics and medicated baths, and will need a follow up with our vet to ensure the infection has cleared.
