Adopted: Jade, a 4 month old Black Female Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Jade is sweet little Lab who loves to play, cuddle and meet new people. She still has some of her baby teeth and you can see the occasional not-quite-fully-coordinated jump for joy when she runs.

She uses the doggie door, is great with my other dogs, eats nicely, and is happy to hang out in her crate - with the gate open, when she wants a nap. Jade know the commands 'come', 'sit' and 'no' (very important for puppies!). She is getting better on the leash but needs more work so that she doesn't pull. Like all puppies, she likes to jump and explore, and doesn't know her own every-increasing strength.

Jade is smart, and is now at the perfect age where she is mentally ready to start learning all the good habits and behavior that will make her the amazing and wonderful dog she wants to be.

Her ideal family must also be ready - to give Jade the guidance she needs, especially in this formative time. With love and leadership, time and training, Jade will blossom into a glorious dog for the right family who are committed to the job of raising her well! "

We have another wonderful Happy Tail for Buddy. We love seeing these updates!

"We've had Buddy almost a year now and I felt an update was due. Buddy has learned to get along with his cat friend Max, found the joy in running through big puddles of water, and torn up an outdoor hassock (that's the little white pellets from the hassock). Best of all we bought a house with an acre of fenced land and Buddy enjoys being able to run from the front to the back. Buddy also enjoys going to the open land and looking for jackrabbits and just running and running.

We were blessed to be able to adopt Buddy, especially since our other lab died a month before, and enjoy each day with him. He is quite the character, always energetic (sometimes mischievous) and he makes us happy every day.

Thank you for giving us Buddy!

James and Mary"

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Piper is a wonderful young Lab, full of energy, curiosity and excitement. Piper is currently going through her 'rebellious teenager' stage, being mischievous and is working on her focusing her energy in the right areas. Piper is loving, affectionate, and does well with other dogs. She is very smart, knowing several commands like sit, shake, etc, and is getting better walking on leash and being crated. Like most puppies, Piper is very mouthy, nose driven, likes to jump and run around. Piper will need a family experienced with young, energetic Labs and committed to providing her with structure, boundaries and training. Families with young children should be extra cautious before requesting to meet Piper, as she's a puppy that doesn't understand her own size. With love, security and guidance, she will be an amazing dog for the right family. Piper has such potential to be an incredible companion, she simply needs someone committed to teaching her appropriate behavior with love. "

"For the short time that we have had Tank he has already shown what a great addition he will make to a household. He does great with large and small dogs and shows no aggression towards cats. He’s had no accidents in his kennel and has quickly picked up how to use our dog door. With practice, reinforcement and supervision we feel that he can eventually be trusted to roam freely without the kennel. He is quick to bond and eager to please. Tank craves love, affection and often positions himself close to you. He is perfectly happy to lay down and watch a movie while chewing a bone but also likes playing in the yard. He enjoys leisurely walks and hasn’t shown the habit to pull. He knows how to sit, stay and shake and has a great smile."

What a wonderful Holiday Happy Tail we received from Addison's family!

"Hey!
It has been about a year since we adopted Addison, and I thought I would drop you a line to tell you how the year has gone.

Both Scott and I love her dearly, that goes without saying. Teddy continues to love his best friend/sister. They enjoy a vigorous morning play time after breakfast, followed by morning nap. Oddly they take afternoon nap together but morning nap they take separately. Weekends find them on hikes or long walks. Addison gets grumpy mid-week if she doesn’t get her scheduled neighborhood walks. She expresses her displeasure by getting one of her collars and showing us.

Shortly after we welcomed Addison, she completed a walking and obedience class with some mastiff pups in our neighborhood. In the past year, she has had no issue with any dog she has encountered and is quite the social butterfly.

Her weight and health have been good. I was paranoid that she had swallowed too much toy stuffing, but an X-ray showed her perfect and stuffing free. She enjoys her tubby baths. She does not care for swimming. She will hang out on the first step of our pool but feels that is far enough. On a river walk, she showed us she can swim and that she does not like it by avoiding any depth greater than her elbow. Teddy- a natural born swimmer- doesn’t mind this as it is his way to shine. Most frequently laying on a lounge chair and watching her brother swim, Addison is quite a picture.

When we first got her, she jumped over the fence to the neighbor’s and we were on watch to make sure that she did not run/jump a way. As it is such a serious thing, we were constantly evaluating situations and guarding against this fact. About 3 months after we got Addison, I was returning home and she leapt out of the car at the same time her brother did and her lead was not secured. She happily ran to the front door. Not taking that event as common, it took several other occasions to know that she is not only not a runner/jumper but the first one back to the door. Clearly, we still take precautions to protect Ted and Addison but there is an emotional comfort to know that other than the first week, she is not trying to flee us.

Addison has been to Utah several times, celebrated Christmas, Easter, Halloween, & Thanksgiving, given endless kisses to her brother, decided dropping her nylabone is the best way to wake up sleeping parents, made friends, seen rabbits, deer & coyotes and enjoyed many massages. Very much like a girl, her favorite show is the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Each time last winter it would come on, she would jump on to the couch and snuggle with me, so she could still see the television. She does not like the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

We did have her DNA tested and she is more Bloodhound than anything, followed by Lab, Golden Retriever, more hound and Akita. Akita ends the curly tail dispute. The Bloodhound explains some of the noises she makes! To encourage her puppy mind, we continue to do scent training (for the Bloodhound) and fun challenges (for the rest.)

Thank you again for the service you provide.

Astraia & Scott"

"Luna is a sweet petite bundle of joy and love. She lives for being by you and being loved, does well with other dogs, Luna has had only one accident in the house which was completely my fault, I decided to take a shower one morning before taking her out. She can also go in and out the doggie door like a champ. She walks on a leash and loves taking walks she may need a gentle reminder to not pull. After a nice walk she is happy and ready to just chill out. We are working on some basic commands and have begun doing some training on entering the kennel on her own. She is still a puppy and will need patience, continued training, exercise, and a puppy proofed house so she remains safe. "

Adopted: Buddy, a 10 month old Male Black Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Buddy is a joy to foster. He has all the exuberance of a 10 month old puppy, but is very calm and laid-back. Like all puppies, he needs lots of exercise to drain some of his energy, but then he's happy to hang out with the pack and relax.

He adapted quickly to his new surroundings at my house, gets along with my 2 Labs, started using the doggie door immediately, and enjoyed meeting friends and neighbors. He likes being with the pack, but is also happy to hang out in the crate, and even sleeps there at night with the door open. He knows some commands, and learns quickly. Some pulling on the leash when he walks but we're making progress.

Buddy is smart, loving and amazingly well-behaved for a young puppy of 10 months. He has a serious bark but has used it 1 time - with 1 bark only - since I've had him, to alert me to somebody unexpected at my door. Otherwise, he still uses his puppy bark when he gets excited and wants to express his happiness.

Its great to be part of his growing up and I am sure that he will be a source of much joy when he gets to his forever home!"

They are very smart and learn quickly. They are doing great with potty training and are sleeping in the crate, but whine for a bit after first going in. They will make great family members once with some patience and training.
Both Kate and Pippa will require extra veterinary care for the next several months, for vaccinations and spay, so the adopting family needs to understand the extra requirements with them.

IMPORTANT MEDICAL NOTE ABOUT KATE: Kate has a hypoplastic vulva, which requires extra care when she goes to the bathroom or she runs the risk of a urinary tract infection. . Read about it: Recessed Vulva

In the best interest of Kate's long term health, her mandatory spay will be delayed several months, which will require her adopting family to be diligent in communication with LVLR and adhere to specific medical requirements by specific dates, strictly through LVLR's Veterinarian, without any delay or negotiation. Before requesting to meet Kate, please take time to read about the condition, talk with your veterinarian, and discuss with pertinent family members the additional requirements adopting Kate will require. It is imperative that Kate's adopting family commit to following our medical protocols and are prepared to contractually adhere to all requirements. "

Adopted: Bogo a a 1.5 year old Male Black Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

Bogo is a high energy, sweet Lab. He will need a committed, caring family willing to help him learn his manners.
Bogo is house trained, sleeps well in his kennel, and is good around other dogs. He doesn't quite play with our two, but that's because ours are aloof and disinterested to fosters anymore. He's a little scared on car rides, but that will improve with experience. Bogo really loves people, happy to snuggle and give kisses to anyone.
While Bogo is a year & a half old, he's still very much like a young puppy, needing to learn boundaries and structure. He's insecure, timid at first, and needs time to settle in and feel safe. When excited, he's very jumpy and mouthy. Shoes seem to be his favorite target so far, and we're teaching him what's acceptable to go in his mouth and what isn't. He's getting better walking on leash, and wants to please you. He's finally become comfortable enough to take naps in his kennel, on his own. He loves cuddling, and will be a great companion when he works through his insecurity and puppy traits.
Bogo is on his way to become the dog he is meant to be, he will need a family willing to continue training, have patience during his transition, and show him lots of love. For families with small children, Bogo would need an immediate commitment to training to help his transition and teach him proper behavior around little ones. Please keep that in mind if requesting a Meet & Greet. "

We received this heartwarming Happy Tail for Brody (formerly Buddy) from an LVLR volunteer!

"We adopted Brody Kane (f/k/a Buddy) on 06/02/2018. You may be asking, “who is Buddy? I never saw him posted as an “available lab.” If you are a volunteer with Las Vegas Labrador Rescue (LVLR), you may have an opportunity to meet a lab before s/he is even released for adoption. And we got lucky when we were able to help transport Brody from a shelter in UT to LVLR, and quickly learned on the car ride Brody was special. After being released from Vet care, we scheduled a meet & greet with Brody's foster family, and we fell in love. And you all should be very disappointed you did not have an opportunity to adopt Brody Kane. Let me tell you why...

We adopted Flynn (f/k/a Icing) on 07/03/2014 through LVLR. Shortly thereafter, Mommy became an “official” volunteer with LVLR. Flynn was everything we could ask for in a dog - he was cuddly, lovey, protective, and an amazing companion. However, Flynn is “Mommy’s dog.” Flynn follows Mommy around, spends the day working with her, and is rarely more than an outstretched arm away from Mommy. Flynn sleeps next to Mommy’s side of the bed every night, and she likes it like that.

But...we have two (2) young boys who wanted “their own dog.” We were hoping for a second dog that would prefer to hang out with our boys, take turns sleeping in our boys’ rooms, and be the “boys’ dog” in all respects. Despite the naysayers (they know who they are), during our “meet and greet” with Brody Kane, he followed the boys around and wanted to hang out with them, although he was very friendly with Mom and Dad. Brody Kane and Flynn played together and did remarkably well.

So...we did the only reasonable thing we could do– we adopted Brody Kane. Our boys named Brody Kane - Our oldest son selected the first name - Brody, which is Irish and means “From the muddy place.” Our youngest son selected Kane after Harry Kane, striker for Tottenham Hotspur and captain of the England national team (what can we say...we love football/soccer).

Brody Kane fits with our family perfectly, better than anyone could have predicted. Brody Kane alternates sleeping in each boys’ room every single night (at bedtime, he looks at Mom, inquiring as to which room he’s sleeping in, goes into his bedroom and plops down on his memory foam dog bed). Brody Kane follows both boys around, and he only hangs out with Mom and/or Dad when the boys are at school. Brody Kane loves to ride in the car with Mom to take the boys to school, although he cries when the boys get out of the car - it is so sweet. To say that the boys got “their dog” is an understatement. I can’t say who loves whom more - the boys or Brody Kane. And, Daddy got a dog out of the adoption, too. While Brody Kane loves the boys “the most,” Daddy is a close second and he could not be happier.

Brody Kane has also had a wonderful impact on our Flynn. Flynn is a bit of a nervous fellow but the very mellow Brody Kane has helped Flynn be brave and less nervous. Flynn, who hates car rides, has even voluntarily taken a ride in the car to take the boys to school (pre-Brody Kane, this would never have happened). Before Brody Kane, when Mommy traveled for the occasional work trip, Flynn would isolate himself from the rest of the family and wait for Mommy’s return. Now, Flynn hangs out with the family, although Daddy said it is apparent that he is listening for Mommy to arrive home. Brody Kane and Flynn are best friends - they play together and they will even eat off the same platter together (while being carefully supervised). Flynn happily shares his toys and treats from his monthly Bullymake box with Brody Kane.

When we adopted Flynn, we thought we had the best dog in the world. After adopting Brody Kane, we realized that we have the two (2) best dogs in the world. We love our Flynn (who we call “Puppy”) and Brody Kane (who we call “Baby Puppy”). Thank you Las Vegas Lab Rescue for completing our family, again."

"Doug is a sweet lab with a great temperament, he is a lovable fluffy boy who sometimes forgets how big he is. He's always excited to meet new friends, whether they are people or other dogs. He gets along well with other dogs and hasn't met a person he doesn't like.

With a lot of energy Doug is fully housebroken, and he understands "sit" but is easily distracted by basically everything. He is a very big boy with a big heart to match, and is a great companion. He likes tummy rubs and splaying out on the floor. Doug is still working on his crate training, and needs to lose some weight. Doug will make a great addition to the right family committed to continuing his training and weight loss. Doug needs a family that understands his needs and are willing to be patient with his transition. "

Adopted: Sammy, a 5 year old Black Female Labrador, who is looking for her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Sammie is a sweet, shiny black-coated Labrador Retriever. She is fully house-trained, knows to use the doggie door, and responds to many commands. She is well-behaved and knows her toys from her Pradas. She LOVEs to swim and will fetch a toy with gusto. She enjoys meeting new people and is good with other dogs. She is confident and curious and will go outside on her own and lie down in the back yard even if my other dogs aren't there. But she also enjoys being part of the pack and will always run with my two. She is not food-driven, she doesn't surf the counters, and doesn't beg for food at the dinner table. She has a very soft and easy mouth when she takes a biscuit or a piece of apple from my hand.

She will go into a crate, but needs to be coaxed with a biscuit.

Regrettably, Sammie may have received too much coaxing in her life, as she is a good bit heavier than her vet thinks is appropriate or healthy for a dog of her bone structure and age.

I am working with Sammie as when we walk, she pulls on the leash. But she wants to please and to learn, so I am sure she will get this part with a little more effort. Swimming and walking (not running) have been very good for her and she enjoys both.

Sammie is a great young lady and a sweet easy dog who will be a glorious addition to any home, especially one that will work with her over the coming months to get her weight down before-hand, so that she can then start to have a more active lifestyle befitting a 5 year old Lab."

"Dixie is a very cute, loving Lab. At 11 months old Dixie is very energetic, lovable, loves to cuddle and aims to please. She is housebroken and has some basic training (sits and goes in her kennel). She's learning to walk well on leash, and is good riding in a car. Dixie is very smart, naturally curious and wants to learn. As Dixie is still a puppy, she needs proper exercise and guidance to channel her puppy energy. She gets along with other dogs with proper introductions. Dixie can be a little timid at first, but warms up with easily with positive attention. Dixie will be great for an active, loving family willing to take the time to teach her confidence, boundaries and security.

Dixie is currently recovering from an infection on the side of her face that required a small surgery. While she has staples, she's healing nicely and expected to be 100% after a week of rest & relaxation. "

We received a fantastic Happy Tail for Cami. Happy Gothcha Day!

"This Las Vegas Lab Rescue alumni has grown into such an amazing, beautiful girl . She has a personality like no other and fits perfectly into our family. She’s still holds on to her goofy, puppy personality but can be the biggest cuddler of all her sisters in the family. She plays nonstop all day and then sleeps all night while taking our entire bed to herself. Cami is obsessed with socks and hold the record of stuffing 9 socks in her mouth all at once ! She never eats them , just likes to steal as many as possible and then she waits with a tail wagging as fast as it can possibly go to see which one of us finds her first. This has become a little game of hers every morning while getting ready for work. She has become dad’s little hunting side kick and continues to train to become a one of a kind duck dog.
We are so excited to announce that our Cami Sue is also a hero, a life saver! She did her first donation with the Las Vegas Animal Blood Bank this past week. She was a trooper for her first time and especially loved all the snacks that she received afterwards .
We couldn’t imagine our family without Cami and are so excited to be celebrating her one year anniversary with us!"

"Kobe is a 7 year old male black Labrador Retriever with a heart as big as the universe. Which is only fitting, because Kobe himself is very, very big! (For those who know Labs well, I would describe him as having the sturdy, stocky build of an English Lab, but the height and length of the largest American Labs.)

He is gentle, easy-going, and seems to exude 'kindness'. He bonds quickly with anybody who shows him affection, but isn't clingy or in need of constant attention. Happy to lie down nearby and stay there for 5 minutes or 2 hours - whenever the action moves, so does he.

Kobe isn't great with specific commands, but he must have had excellent training at some point because he is very well-behaved. He does not chew things other than toys and even then only if he's really bored. He eats slowly but has a hearty appetite and enjoys his treats. Doesn’t try to take food from the table or kitchen counters. He responds to hand-signals for sitting down, and he understands No, although I don’t have to use it often at all.

He walks beautifully on a leash although he is timid in new surroundings and sometimes needs a little gentle coaxing. Same getting into and out of the car. Rides well in the car once he's in and settled.

Kobe gets along well with my two Labradors, goes into the crate if coaxed with a biscuit, is house-trained and uses the doggie door.

A great boy, Kobe will be a magnificent addition to any Lab lover's family."

"Tahoe has been a delightful, sweet, and affectionate Labrador from the moment we met him. He greets you with a smile and a tail wag and really enjoys and appreciates human companionship. As a young lab, he displays high energy while walking on a leash but with some consistent training, all bad habits can be broken! Tahoe has mastered using the dog door and seems to be house trained as long as he has access to outside. He’s been friendly with both our dogs and cats and will likely do just fine in a house with other animals. Tahoe will make a great dog anyone in the market for their new best friend!"

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REQUESTING TO MEET HANK!
"Hank is a very special foster Lab that will need a very special family, one that will be dedicated from day 1 to Hank's training. Hank isn't just a typical mouthy Lab, Hank is a very determined Lab who likes to eat things that are dangerous for him. Hank will need constant supervision until he's trained in order to prevent him from ingesting something he shouldn't. Please make sure before you request to meet Hank that you are prepared for the work he needs changing his behavior. We strongly believe this is a situation for a professional dog trainer, and we at LVLR are ready to provide options for his training.

As for Hank's personality, he's a lovely, sweet, affectionate Lab. He rides well in the car, is comfortable in his crate, and sleeps through the night. Hank does well on leash, is house trained and good with other dogs. Hank still has the bouncy energy of a Lab, and will need suitable play time, but also settles down easily and likes to be with people. Hank simply needs a strong leader committed to working through his drive to eat objects. We believe with the right training, supervision, structure and boundaries, Hank will make an amazing companion for the right family."

Please make sure you are willing to commit to training BEFORE requesting to meet Hank.

Adopted: Sophie, an 18 month old Female Yellow Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Hi! I am Sophie, a 1 1/2 year old, female, yellow lab.

I am an absolute lover! I love to be with my humans, love lots of scratches behind the ears, belly rubs and attention. I get along with other dogs as well as children. I can walk on a leash; however, my attention span is short because there are a lot of this to see and smell outside. I can sit upon the sit command, but because there is so much to explore, I don't sit for very long. I can come, on command, if I want to. I can use a doggie door and use the outside to do my business. I am a very happy dog, I love to run and play and a very willing learner.

I do not like the kennel, cause I like to come and go as I please in the house. I do not dig in the yard. I love to run out the front door, because it is such a big world out there with a lot of smells to investigate and things to explore. I am a very smart girl and I can open doors with latch handles, but I have not learned how to get back in. I love the backyard and am very willing to stay in it as long as there is a way to get back inside when I want too.

I am very young and have a lot to learn, but I am willing to be a good student. I am still a puppy at heart and in mind. I can't wait to meet my forever family and begin learning to be the awesome dog I know I have inside me."

Adopted: Micky, a 4 month old Black Male Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Mickey is a playful, young spirited, intelligent dog. Patience and consistency is of utmost importance because Mickey is intelligent but, has a puppy's attention span. He requires lots of play time, as most puppies do, but he’s very good with potty training. He is familiar with the use of doggie doors and often goes potty outside on his own. Mickey also learns very quickly and currently knows how to sit, stay, and kennel; although kenneling is his least favorite. When it comes to socializing with other dogs, Mikey is friendly towards other dogs but, is still getting to know the boundaries of other dogs.
Mickey’s ideal home is one where a considerable amount of play and affection can be given. An active family who has time to give all the love and attention that Mickey needs would be perfect for this young pup."

Happy Gotcha Day to Aspen Giselle, the mother of our Magnificent 7 litter of 2017. We love reading her beautiful update.

"Words can express the gratitude we have for the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue and all the wonderful volunteers especially to Victoria and John. Today is the 1 year anniversary for being blessed with Aspen Giselle aka Stretch (she is our first fur-baby that stretches every time she gets up). She is such a loving girl, snuggles between my husband and I nightly and gives soft gently kisses and a gentle paw swipe to tell us she wants more rubs. I believe her sweet gentle nature was developed when she was being a wonderful mommy to her babies. Aspen is very smart and a quick learner, she gives hi-fives and will sit/stay until she is told she can move (better than her older sister Cypress!). Her favorite toys are her Frisbee and tennis balls however loves to scatter all her toys in the living room and does not like it when I put them back in her toy box. She also knows the sound of our truck keys and bounces around like Tigger in hopes of going for a ride especially to our ranch in Utah. Thanks to you all for allowing us to be parents to such our amazing girls, Aspen Giselle and Cypress Blaze.

Adopted: Mia 2, a one and a half year old Black Female Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Mia 2 is a little shy and cautious at first, but she's becoming more confident and secure as she settles in our home. Mia 2 sleeps through the night in her kennel, rides well in a car, is doing great with our dogs and appears to be house trained. She does pull on a leash and needs some more work on her manners. Mia 2 is very sweet, affectionate and loving once she feels safe, and is getting more playful by the day. Mia 2 will make a great companion for a family that takes a little extra time to build her confidence, work on her manners and show her boundaries, security and love. "
