Here's another fantastic Happy Tail from an LVLR adopter:

"Hi!
We adopted Dodger formally Malone. In the beginning of 2013, he is doing great, he loves his little sister Jasmine. It’s funny he has his choice of 3 beds and always chooses the smallest one. He was such a great addition to our family!

Thank You!
Marci"

We love getting these updates on our adopted Labs!
"Hi,

We adopted a four month old boy back in April. He was one of three lab mix puppies rescued from Utah. He has since been named Raider. Most of our family are huge Raider fans and my husband has been working on the Raider stadium for the past couple years, so it just fit.

We knew Raider was a mix when we adopted him, but curiosity got the best of us so we did one of those home DNA tests. To our surprise our black Lab is actually a Rottweiler in disguise, lol. He is 2% Labrador. We love him just the same. 💚

Raider is extremely smart. He knows all the normal commands, but beyond that he uses his wit to get away with naughty stuff too. He can snatch food off your plate in a way that leaves no mess or evidence. He knows how to step on the foot lever of the trash can to get it open. He hides stolen items under couches or other low places that people can’t easily get to. He amazes me sometimes with his sneakiness.

He is very good with both our kids and he would protect our 4 year old daughter with his life. He is her big lap dog baby. He loves chasing bunnies in our back yard, even though he is yet to catch one. He is probably the fastest dog I’ve ever seen too. His best friend/enemy is the neighbors cat. Sometimes they snuggle and sometimes they try to eat each other. The cat had the upper hand for about the first three months (see video).

Raider is a happy boy. He has an acre to runaround and play, but still loves snuggling on the couch just as much. We are so happy to have him as part of our family.

Sincerely,
Raider’s Mommy"

Adopted: Hazel, a 6 month old Black Female Labrador, has found her furever home.

Here is a bio from her foster family:

"Hazel is a sweet, energetic puppy! She loves being people, snuggling and playing. Hazel is doing well with house training, rides great in a car, and is good with other dogs. She's good being crated, sleeping almost all the way through the nigh now. Like an puppy, Hazel needs continued training to focus energy, walk on leash, and get through the mouthy stage. Hazel is wonderfully affectionate, and wants to please. She's very quick to learn, she's already learned sit, fetch and is working on off, as she's quite bouncy. Hazel will make great addition to any family willing to continue teaching her boundaries, expectations, and love. "

Ginger is going to be a great companion for that very special family."

"Keanu is a great little guy, he is super friendly and very playful. Seems to be very smart and a quick learner. He is full of that puppy energy. We are working on his potty training. He is wonderful with my two older labs. He loves to play with toys and will steal anything my other dogs are playing with. Just like a annoying little brother. He goes into his crate easily and will sleep through the night. He will be a wonderful addition to anyone's home, who has the time, patience and energy to raise a puppy."

Adopted: Apollo, 3 month old Black Male Labrador, found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"PLEASE READ CAREFULLY before requesting a meet and greet for Apollo.

Apollo is a sweet 13 week old puppy, equipped with the full puppy package - razor sharp baby teeth that love to chew on everything, boundless energy and curiosity, always under foot. For perspective, he's too young too have had all his inoculations - round 1 is done but his round 2 remains to be done.

He is good with the crate, sleeps there through the night, and knows to go do his business every time he comes out of the crate. He's had a few accidents in the house but not since we got into a rhythm of going outside very hour or so. He does not understand the doggie door yet and is curious but not ready to go into the pool. He walks well on the leash, gets along with my two Labs, plays fetch and comes when I whistle.

Apollo is a BABY, and like all babies, he needs a lot of attention, patience, guidance, patience, training, patience, and love. Did I mention patience? If you are willing and more important - able, to devote the time and effort needed to raise Apollo, he will return the favor a hundred times over every day. "

Adopted: Moose 2, a 9 month old Male Yellow Labrador, has found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Moose has been a sweet, affectionate, handsome Labrador from the moment we met him. He takes a minute to warm up as he is shy from what he’s faced in his past life, however he soon greets you with a smile and a tail wag and is seeking desperately the love and attention a family can give him. Moose has many puppy like tendencies that will take patience and training to work through such as boredom chewing and potty training of which he has very little. He does excellent when riding in a car and has the cutest adventurous trot when walking on a leash with very little pulling. He’s been friendly with both our dogs and his eyes light up when he’s given special attention or play time with a ball. He’ll make a wonderful companion for his new family!"

He is currently a little stressed, getting better ever day, and I am confident he will adjust quickly once he gets in his forever home. Bentley will make a great family pet."

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REQUESTING TO MEET Moose: Moose will need 2-3 follow up appointments with LVLR's veterinarian. The adopting family will be responsible for arranging appointments in the given timeframe, and completing required treatment as directed by LVLR or adoption will be rescinded immediately.

"Moose is a handsome, smart, playful bundle of puppy love. While still young and learning, Moose has demonstrated he's very quick to catch on, already responding to commands such as sit, come, stay, kennel. He gets better every day with intermittent crating and sleeping. He's not 100% house-trained yet, but is doing great with routine trips outside to reinforce positive behavior. Like all puppies his age, Moose is energetic, mouthy, and needs supervision and training over the next several months. He loves to play other dogs and children. Given Moose's age, he'll need a family dedicated to continuing his training, teaching him boundaries and expectations, so he grows into the dog he is meant to be. At this age, Moose is a blank slate, ready and willing to be trained into a fantastic companion dog, with love and support from a committed family.
Families with small children should be cautious when considering Moose, as his puppy behavior (mouthy, bouncy, and playful!) will need to be monitored to ensure a safe environment."

Potential adopters will be responsible for arranging appointments in the given timeframe, and completing required treatment or adoption will be rescinded immediately.

"Oakley is a healthy, happy 15 week old female. She is very smart, and uses the doggy door each time she needs to go out. Like any puppy, she is curious about everything and everyone. She has a lot of energy, and most enjoys running after a toy, bringing it back for a quick game of tug-of-war, and then waiting for you to throw it again. She is kennel trained, although she prefers to be around her family. No information yet about how she reacts to young children or other animals, but families with small children should understand the training Oakley will need over the next year to ensure safety for all."

Adopted: Scout, a 2.5 year old Black Female Labrador, has found looking for her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Scout is a beautiful lab who comes to us with some signs of having a hard time as a stray. Besides being the sweetest, cuddly girl, here’s what we know about her: she is approximately 2.5 years old, has had ear repaired for a small tear, has had her dewclaws removed, and was possibly devocalized prior to her coming to LVLR. Scout is healing well, and will have no further issues from the injuries. Devocalization is a surgical procedure performed on dogs, where tissue is removed from the animal's vocal cords to permanently reduce the volume of its vocalizations. She does still bark but it’s a very quiet bark – it sort of sounds like she’s just really hoarse when barking.

Scout is a true blue lab who wants a toy in her mouth at all times but never picks up socks, shoes, etc. Impressive! She appears to be potty trained (we haven’t had any accidents in the house), walks pretty well on a leash, goes into the crate, has a good appetite, and loves to play with people or other dogs. She is grateful for her second chance at finding a forever home and loves to be close by you so she can pay you back with plenty of kisses! She is currently 60 lbs and would make a great companion for any home looking for a fur baby!"

Adopted: Finn, a 3-4 year old Black Male Labrador, found his forever home.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"After some time in the rescue with foster homes, we reassessed Finn's projected age. With help from our vet and an experienced trainer, we believe Finn is actually closer to 3-4 years old, rather than 7 that we were originally told. As always, there are a lot of different factors that go into guessing an age of of dog, and we feel the re-assessment is far more in line for Finn's energy level. We decided new pictures and an update would help people see Finn more accurately.
Finn is a very energetic, active lab with a lot of love to give. He has an incredibly friendly and goofy temperament, and he gets along great with other animals and people. He would make a great companion for anyone who is looking for a friendly, lively addition to their family. Finn is a larger dog, he knows sit and does very well on a leash and is am absolute joy to walk. He will easily go into his crate and stay inside, but becomes anxious when left alone in the crate at first. We're working on him being more comfortable in a crate. Finn will be a great companion to an active family looking for a big, friendly love. He does best with strong leadership, structure & boundaries. Finn is very smart, will need to continue training, and wants to please his humans. "

Please read carefully!
"Rocky is looking for a special family to call home. Rocky has been diagnosed with Canine Epilepsy, and will need medication to control/minimize future seizures. Epilepsy isn't curable, it's simply something to manage in a dog's lifetime. Rocky is a sweet, energetic Lab that loves being with people. He is very loving and affectionate, but needs work on being left alone. He is friendly with children, other dogs and learning to ignore cats.
Loves to be active, walks, playing fetch, going for rides. Rocky currently doesn't like being crated, but we're continuing to work on making a crate his safe space. Rocky would do great with a family with older children, and one that understands he's needs managing his epilepsy."

Adopted: Nala, a 2 year old Female Yellow Labrador, who is looking for her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Nala - Simba's travelling companion, also came from Beijing, China. She too was rescued by Goldens without Borders, an organization dedicated to saving dogs from the meat trade industry.

Nala is adapting well to her recent whirlwind - a 6,000+ mile Pacific crossing, rescuers befriending her, medical/dental procedures, new home, playmates, people, sounds, smells, language - all of it!

She's sweet, lovey and curious. She entertains herself with a tennis ball when no fetch partner is around. She's a dainty eater, but goes with gusto at a sacrificial sock or stuffed toy. Happy to hang out and relax with the pack, she will let you know when she's bored and needs a little entertainment. She's mostly good being crated, uses the dog door comfortably, and rides very well in the car. Nala gets along with my two Labs and wants to try out the pool but it's off-limits until her spay stitches are removed. She only barks when appropriate. Nala responds to a quiet NO or AH, and learns quickly.

It doesn't appear that she's had any training, which fits with the path of her life until now. She is smart and very much wants to please, and we're working on SIT and STAY. I've had her for 4 days and already see progress. She's not quite house-trained either, but the repetition of sending her through the dog door every 2-3 hours and encouraging her to take care of business, is starting to take hold.

She's strong, young and energetic, so families with smaller children should be aware. I haven't seen her around children, or cats for that matter, but based on her personality, have no reason to believe there would be an issue. That said, the safety of both the children and the dog are of primary importance.

Nala's like a sponge who really wants to learn. An active family committed to giving her the guidance, boundaries, love and exercise she needs will be rewarded with an excellent companion, a most loyal friend and a great cuddler too! "

Adopted: Simba, a 2 year old Black Male Labrador, found his forever home.

"Simba is a very unique addition to Las Vegas Labrador Rescue, having travelled all the way from Beijing, China to Las Vegas. Simba was recused by Goldens without Borders, an organization dedicated to saving dogs from the meat trade industry, and transported to the US, and ultimately, to Las vegas Labrador Rescue.
For a dog that has travelled farther than most, he is doing amazing in our home. Simba is energetic, playful, and really enjoys running around. He has discovered the pool, and was an instant fan of routine swims! He's does very well on leash, but will need more work, and is getting better every day with crating. He appears to be house-trained, does great with other dogs, and wants to play. Simba is very affectionate, loves getting rubbed and does the lean for good snuggles. Simba will need some work learning not to jump on people and he's still has a lot of puppy mouthy in him, so families with smaller children should be aware. As we do not have cats or small children, we are unsure how he would do around them, but we have no reason to think it would be an issue. Given that for most of his life his commands were given in a different language, Simba will need a little extra time learning new versions of sit, stay, etc. He's very smart, curious, a little bit of a foodie and an absolute sweet boy. He will make a great companion for an active family willing to do a little work to get him acclimated to a new home."

Pending Adoption: Maya, a 3 year old Black Female Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Maya is a 3 year old black lab who needs a family with the patience to let her warm up to you at her own pace. She is housebroken, crate trained and is comfortable on a leash. She sleeps through the night, rides well in car, but frightens easily with new sounds. At first Maya prefers to stay in her crate where she feels safe, but as she feels at ease with you, it is easy to tell that she wants to be loved and petted. Maya would do better in a home with another dog, as she lights up when she's around other pets. Maya will need a family that can give her time and patience to become comfortable in a new surrounding. Once she trusts her human, Maya is a lovable, affectionate and energetic. She simply takes longer than most to feel safe & secure.
Please consider the acclamation time Maya needs before requesting to meet her. "

Adopted: Willow, a 4 month old Black Female Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Willow is a hilariously wonderful young Lab! She is quite a character, feisty, strong willed, and very smart. Willow loves to play fetch already, romp and play, and has learned sit. She is also sweet, affectionate, and will also snuggle with humans. Willow is learning to adjust to a kennel, and while not thrilled to go, she quickly settles down. She is doing great with potty training, provided you stay on a schedule. As Willow is still a puppy, she's incredibly mouthy, curious and likes to play. She will need a strong leader to guide her through the puppy stages of life, helping her become the dog she is meant to be. Families with small children should take extra caution before requesting a meet, as Willow is still learning not to jump on people and walk on leash, and did we mention she's quite mouthy? Willow is good with other dogs and wants to play; our dogs, however, are not interested. Willow will need a family experienced with young, energetic Labs and committed to providing her with structure, boundaries and training. Willow will make a great companion, as she loves people and really is a blank canvas for training.
Willow requires a follow up trip to our vet for another round of booster vaccinations and her stitches removed, and that should be considered by any prospective family. It is a condition of her adoption."

  • Sydney

Adopted: Sydney, a 1.5 year old Black Female Labrador, who is looking for forever home.

Here is a Bio from foster family……..

"At about a year and a half, Sydney is full grown and on the slightly smaller side for a Lab. With a few drops of white snow on her back paws and a blaze under her chest, her bushy curled-edge tail, and her strong herding instinct, she could have a bit of Border Collie in her background.

Sydney is affectionate, confident, easy-going and smart.

She's happy to meet new people, gets along with my Labs, and is equally happy playing in the garden or hanging out watching Nature shows on TV. (Apparently not a Deadwood fan, though, as she just curled up next to me and went to sleep with her head on my lap.) Sydney keeps herself occupied with toys, but is not Missy Destructo. She loves tennis balls, but hasn't quite gotten the fetch idea of bringing the ball back. She has shown no interest in shoes or other stuff on the floor. Jumped up to the kitchen counter once or twice, but responds properly to the command 'no'.

Sydney walks amazingly well on a leash, heeling perfectly on my right side, and tries to herd me if I put her on the left. She doesn't bolt when she sees other animals. Even on a long leash, she never goes to the end of it, which most young Labs do until they're trained. She rides quietly in the back seat of a car. And she knows to use the doggie door.

Sydney shows the calmness and disposition of an adult dog (not a lot of raging puppy energy to work off, no lack of attention and focus - so not alot of work for her new family) . But her best new family will give her the extra intellectual stimulation, challenges and tasks to master, as these will help her reach her amazing potential as a working member of her new pack! "

Here is a Bio from foster family……..

"Barney is simply an amazing boy! He's very friendly, affectionate, smart and loving. He's doing great with our existing dogs, rides well in the car, and is crate trained with little whining. Barney is happy chasing a ball, energetic and playful, and is equally happy to curl up with you. He sleeps through the night, appears to be house-trained, but definitely needs work with walking on leash. Barney is very eager to please, quick to learn, and is a little sneaky about getting on the bed with you to cuddle. He has a great curiosity and independence, but also wants to be with people. In typical Labrador fashion, Barney is quite the foodie, and willing to share your ice cubes, watermelon, hamburgers, and pretty much anything else you're willing to give him. We do not have cats, but he is quite interested in our backyard lizards. There are no children in the house, but Barney is mature enough that with proper guidance and training for both kids and Barney, he will be great. He's wonderful and adorable, and will make a fantastic companion for the right active family. Barney is a near perfect buddy dog and will make many hearts melt. "

We love receiving updates on our former rescues. This is an amazing Happy Tail for Sierra (formerly Remme) !

"We adopted this beautiful girl almost two years ago and made her part of our family. She is incredibly sweet, playful and great with the kids. I have never seen a dog more obsessed with her ball and is always ready to play fetch. She has tons of energy and has gone with us to the beach in L.A., visiting family in Phoenix, hiking in Red Rock and playing in the snow in Utah. If you're busy and can't play ball with her (or her second favorite thing: rub her belly) she will just curl up next to you. Total velcro dog, follows you everywhere around the house and we love it. She's doing great and we look forward to many more years with her.

She shows no aggression with food, toys or other dogs. She loves to play with toys especially stuffies and really likes to explore the yard. Sierra is very well behaved and is working on not jumping up on people when she is overly excited. But she can also be very calm and quiet. She is crate trained and quiet all night. She is currently working on walking on a leash and has made great improvement. Overall, Sierra is a very loving, affectionate girl who is happy to return all the love and attention you give her. Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Dudley is a handsome and distinguished big happy lab. He has already shown what a great addition he will make to a household. He does great with large and small dogs and shows no aggression towards the cats in his current foster home. He’s had no accidents in his kennel or inside the house which leads us to believe he is house trained. He happily goes into his kennel and hasn’t displayed any barking or crying while inside the kennel. He is quick to bond and eager to please while staying close by his family members throughout the day. As a more mature lab, he is perfectly happy to lay down and watch a movie but gets great pleasure from going on walks or playing in the yard.
He is leisurely on a leash and hasn’t shown the habit to pull and also does great in the car. He will need some reinforcement and training to correct his habit and curiosity of checking the counter or tables for leftover food. Dudley will make a great companion."

Adopted: Ryder, a 4 year old Black Male Labrador, has found his forever home has the maximum number of approved families asking to meet him. We will not accept more requests until those meetings have taken place.

Here is a Bio from his foster family……..

"Ryder is a beautiful, big Black Labrador retriever. He has a head like a bear, and a heart as big as the planet. He's friendly and curious, and gets along with my family and my two Labs. He's content to play with toys or explore the back yard on his own, but then wants to come back and flop down on the floor next to my desk and the other dogs. Kind and affectionate, he's happy to hang out in his crate with the door open, and gladly sleeps there with the door closed at night while he earns full roaming privileges.

Ryder takes treats gently from my hand - which is great for such a big dog. He's learned to use the doggie door, but hasn't quite gotten the idea that he should use it as a way get outside to take care of his business. But we are working on that and he's already showing progress. He knows sit, down and no. We're working on reinforcement and learning new commands too. He's very eager to learn and please.

Ryder's size, relatively young age (3 y/o) and general bounciness means that potential adopters with small children may want to think about whether a big rambunctious young Lab is right for them at the moment.

As with all young dogs, Ryder will need love, patience, training and consistent reinforcement. He's already gotten a great start on the road to being an amazing and wonderful addition to the right family's pack. "

Adopted: Janie, a 2 year old Female Yellow Labrador

  • Janie-2
  • Janie-3
  • Janie-12
  • Janie-18
  • Janie-26
  • Janie-31

Adopted: Janie, a 2 year old Female Yellow Labrador, has found her forever home.

Here is a Bio from her foster family……..

"Janie is a sweet young girl with all the curiosity and energy of a her age. She's smart and adapted quickly to my other two Labs and the pack structure. She's eager to please but struggles occasionally with focus - as you would expect from a year-old puppy. But she makes progress daily. She loves and wants to be part of the pack, and she is extremely loyal, following me around whenever I get up from my desk. No matter what the hour or where I am going, she will come with me to make sure I am safe. She likes to curl up next to me and the rest of he pack to watch TV in the evenings. She loves playing with tennis balls and hard chew toys.

Janie knows some commands and is trained to use the doggie door. She's not thrilled with going in the crate, but will go in with a treat and a little encouragement (in the form of a bit of herding). She isnt barky, and she isnt mouthy - a pleasant surprise for a Lab! She takes treats delicately from my hand, and eats nicely. She walks fairly well on the leash. Although her initial excitement at going out makes her try to pull a little, after a few minutes she settles down and walks right beside me.

Janie is a happy, sweet, smart, curious pup. With guidance, love, training and a bit of patience, she will be a glorious addition to the family that adopts her. Families with small children may want to consider whether a rambunctious pup is right for them, and whether they're prepared to make the time needed to help Janie grow into the great girl she's already starting to become!"

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY BEFORE REQUESTING TO MEET CONNER, MISSY OR ROXY.
Roxy has been diagnosed with Canine Oral Papillomas.. It's common in puppies, whose immune systems aren't fully developed, and spread through saliva. Puppies like to lick!
While Roxy will naturally recover from the virus, it will take up to 8 weeks for her immune system to be completely free of it. There are no symptoms, and no medication to give, puppies simply grow out of it.
While not contagious to people, the virus is contagious to other dogs. We strongly suggest, if your home already has a dog(s), do not request to meet Roxy. She has to be kept from other dogs until the virus has run it's course, and as we don't know when she was introduced to it, it should be 8 weeks.
Please make sure you've read up on Canine Oral Papillomas and speak with your vet before submitting a Meet Request for Roxy.

"Roxy is simply a little bundle of love. While she can be timid at first, she wants to snuggle and cuddle with humans. She's happy to lay with you, in between puppy play time, and take naps. Roxy is learning to adjust to a kennel, and while not thrilled to go, she quickly settles down. Roxy is doing great on potty training, quick to learn, and is close to sleeping through the night. As Roxy is still a puppy, she's incredibly mouthy, curious and likes to run and play, and will need a strong leader to teach her through the puppy stages of life. Roxy is with her sister Missy, and loves to play. As we have to have them separated entirely, we cannot say how she is with other dogs at this point. Roxy will need a family experienced with young, energetic Labs and committed to providing her with structure, boundaries and training. Roxy will make a great companion, as she loves people."

Conner does not like the kennel, but we're working on feeling more comfortable.
